Hoying leads Volleyball to exciting 5-set victory over Concordia (Wisc.)

HOLLAND, Mich. — Ohio Northern volleyball team rallied for an 18-25, 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 15-10 victory over Concordia (Wisc.) on Saturday afternoon. 

The Basics

• Records: Ohio Northern (1-1 Overall), Concordia (0-1 Overall).

Match Highlights

• Sophomore Summer Hoying (Fort Loramie) had 16 kills and 17 digs to lead the Polar Bears.
• Junior Olivia Baumann (Eaton) added 10 kills and 15 digs. 
• Freshman Julian Gaier (Fort Loramie) had seven kills for ONU. 
• Freshman Ella Meers (Stow/Stow-Monroe Falls) added 22 assists. 
• Freshman Madelyn Banks (Nashport/Licking Valley) had 17 assists for the Orange and Black. 
• Concordia was led by Kazyla Mulder with 16 kills. 
• The Polar Bears hit .118 for the match with 47 kills, while the Falcons hit .170 with 61 kills in the match.

 Notables

• The all-time series is tied 2-2 between the two programs. 
• The Polar Bears open their season playing in the Hope Tournament.
• Hoying was second in kills last season with 212 and third in digs with 237.
• ONU has won 22 OAC titles, 17 more than any other OAC school.
• Sophie Windover is now 37-20 in her two seasons as head coach of the ONU volleyball team, a winning percentage of .649.
