Volleyball falls twice in first day of Emory National Tournament

ATLANTA, Ga. — The Ohio Northern volleyball team dropped a pair of matches to Maryville (Tenn.) and No. 3-ranked Emory (Ga.) in day one of the Emory National Tournament.
The Polar Bears (9-12, 2-1 OAC) dropped the opening match against Maryville 25-14, 25-19, 25-16, before falling to host Emory 25-14, 25-8, 25-15 in the nightcap.
Against the Scots, junior Ellen Grenert and freshman Rachel Olach paced the Polar Bears with five kills. Grenert also recorded 11 digs.
Sophomore Jeni Kmic led the Polar Bear defense with 17 digs. Sophomore Cenzie Yoder notched two blocks.
Junior Nicole Pottkotter led the attack against the Eagles with four kills.
Kmic and sophomore Hannah Livengood recorded five digs, while Grenert served up two aces.
The Polar Bears will look to rebound tomorrow on day two of tournament, as they square off against Piedmont (Ga.) at noon and Lynchburg (Va.) at 2 p.m.
