Commager, Reed lead Women's Track & Field on Day 1 of the OAC Indoor Championships

MARIETTA — Junior Kelsey Commager and freshman Maddy Reed led the Ohio Northern women's track and field team on day one of the Ohio Athletic Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Marietta at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center.

The Polar Bears finish the day in second place with 39 points.

Otterbein is currently sitting in first place with 44 points and Mount Union in third with 38 points.

Reed led the Polar Bears in the pole vault claiming All-OAC honors with a third place finish, clearing a height of 11 feet 6.5 inches.

Commager also garnered All-OAC honors, finishing third in the long jump with a leap of 17 feet 9 inches.

Junior Rebecca Carman, senior Kristine Wagner, and freshman Stephanie Walton also claimed top finishes in the long jump.

Carman finished fourth with a leap of 17 feet 3.25 inches, followed by Wagner in fifth with a jump of 17 feet 2.75 inches and Walton in sixth with a distance of 17 feet 2.75 inches.

In the pole vault, sophomore Kelly Wollenslegel finished fifth with a height of 11 feet 2.5 inches, while senior Sarah Ballmer finished sixth with a height of 11 feet 2.5 inches.

Junior Rebecca Olashuk finished fifth in the weight throw with a pitch of 46 feet 5.5 inches.

the distance medley relay team of freshmen Michaela Fox, Taylor Fisher, Avery Ewing, and Colleen Grainger also claimed a fifth place finish on day one, finishing with a time of 13:34.05.

The second day of competition begins Saturday with field events at 10 am and track events at 2 pm.
