DELEWARE -- Sophomore Sam Hoffman won the 3,000-meter steeplechase to lead the Ohio Northern women's outdoor track & field team at the Marv Frye Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday.
The Polar Bears (9-8 overall) finished with 44 points, which placed them ninth out of 14 teams.
Ohio Wesleyan won the meet with 146 points, Capital was second with 95 and Otterbein was third with 92.
Hoffman posted a time of 11:57.37, which was nearly 12 seconds faster than the second place finisher.
Sophomore Shannon Hageman finished third in the long jump, with a leap of 4.97 meters (16-3.75).
Junior Raven McLure notched a sixth place finish in the discus, with a throw of 34.23 meters (112-04).
Sophomore Catie Huber finished seventh in the 1,500-meter run in 5:00.37.
Senior Jordan Buchanan was seventh in the 200-meter dash, crossing the finish line in 27.35 seconds.
The 4x400-meter relay team of freshman Kristine Wagner, Hageman, Huber and Buchanan came in sixth place with a time of 4:14.10.
Ohio Northern will return to competition on Saturday, when it competes at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Ohio Wesleyan.
