Steinbrunner wins 5k in record-setting fashion as Women's Track & Field finishes fourth at OAC Indoor Championships

WESTERVILLE — The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team finished day two of the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships at Otterbein on Saturday where they placed fourth of ten teams with 91.5 points.
Mount Union took first with 154 points, followed by Baldwin-Wallace with 117.5 and in third was
Marietta with 100.
Junior Alison Steinbrunner won the 5,000 with an OAC and ONU record time of 17:43.46. Also placing in the event was senior Kelly Casanova in second in 18:10.28 and senior Mallory Bloom in seventh in 18:36.40.
The top three in each event earn All-Conference honors.
Senior Lydia Weaver recorded a second place finish in the mile in 5:21.11. Weaver also placed fourth in 1,000 with a time of 3:07.30.
Freshman teammate Catie Huber placed eighth in the event in 3:12.38.
Sophomore Vicki Moga placed third in high jump with a leap of 5-02.5.
Also scoring points for the Polar Bears were Shayla Siefker in the 800 in 2:20.29 as well as Erin Radigan in 2:32.60. Junior Jordan Buchanan took sixth in the 400 in 1:03.11.
The 4x400 team consisting of Buchanan, Freshman Sarah Meyer, Sophomore Katie Klopp and Siefker placed seventh in 4:20.07.
NCAA Division III Championships will take place on March 9 and 10 in Grinnell, Iowa.
The field of participants is expected to be announced on March 5.
Several members of the squad will travel to Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Saturday for a lasst chance meet.
The Polar Bears will open their outdoor season at the Muskingum Dual on March 17. The meet is set to start at 11 a.m.
