Letcher's pin helps lead No. 26 Wrestling to win over D-I Davidson (N.C.)
DAVIDSON, N.C. — The Ohio Northern wrestling team posted a 27-19 win against Division I opponent Davidson (N.C.) on Sunday afternoon at Belk Arena.
Northern, ranked No. 26 in the country, improves to 4-3 overall while the Wildcats remain winless at 0-3.
Junior Jeremy Jones gave the Polar Bears its first win of the day with a 2-1 decision over Davidson's Anthony Elias at 133 pounds. ONU would fall in the next two bouts before winning the next five of six weight classes.
Senior Mich Letcher pinned William Ray in 1:26 at the 157 weight class, and was followed by Billy Painter's win by a 7-2 decision at 165.
Junior All-American Kyle Kwiat won by technical fall at 174 pounds in 2:28, then sophomore Michael Pawlitz won by forfeit before freshman Cody Lovejoy won by major decision (16-2) at heavyweight.
Northern is back in action Dec. 29-30 at the Citrus Open in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
