Men's Indoor Track & Field team wins OAC Relays
BEREA — Senior Alan Bowsher won the 5,000-meter run and the Ohio Northern men's indoor track & field team won the 4x400, 4x800 and Distance Medley Relays to win the Ohio Athletic Conference Relays meet Saturday at Ursprung Gymnasium at Baldwin-Wallace.
The Polar Bears finished with 104 points and improve to 13-1 on the season.
Otterbein was econd with 98.5 points, Marietta was third with 95 points and Baldwin-Wallace was fourth with 89.5 points.
Bowsher won the 5,000-meter run in 15:20.24, more than 25 seconds ahead of the second place finisher.
Northern also won the 4x400, the 4x800 and Distance Medley relays.
The team of junior Garrett Brown, sophomore Jacob Schwab, junior Shane Huntley and junior Evan Heyman won the 4x400 relay in 3:24.61.
Sophomore Corey Bailey, junior Travis Isenberg, junior Patrick Rachow and sophomore Dan Smith won the 4x800 relay in 8:11.38.
The Distance Medley relay team of sophomore Nick Baker, Huntley, freshman Ben Ankrom and Smith won in 10:21.92.
Brown added a second place finish in the 55-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 8.09 seconds.
Northern won the Pole Vault Relay as junior Andy Lammers and senior Jacob Weyrauch tied for second in the event by clearing 4.35 meters.
The 4x200 relay team of sophomore Travis Althouse, junior Ryan Fleming, Schwab and Heyman were second in 1:33.35.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Mount Union Invitational.
