Men's Outdoor Track & Field squad wins OAC Split Meet at Wilmington
WILMINGTON — Justin Linzy and Ryan Fleming swept the two sprint races, leading the Ohio Northern men's outdoor track and field team to a victory at the Ohio Athletic Conference Split Meet at Wilmington on Saturday.
The Polar Bears (20-0) have now won both of their meets thus far in the outdoor season.
Linzy and Fleming finished 1-2 in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes. Linzy won the 200 in :22.66, just edging Fleming, who finished second in :22.69.
Fleming won the 100 in :11.19 with Linzy finishing second in :11.31.
Northern dominated the 5000 run with Sean Lemke winning in 16:30.40, Franklin Freytag finishing second in 16:47.35 and Robert Money finishing third in 16:50.41.
Brent Hiser won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:56.50.
Jacob Weyrauch tied for first in the pole vault by clearing 14'.
The 4x100 relay team won in 1:42.40.
Northern had several more second place finishes in the meet.
Joe Amstutz was second in the 400 in :49.55, Paul Lewis was second in the 1500 in 4:10.83, Timothy Yeh was second in the triple jump with an effort of 41' 1/4" and Anthony Thomas was second in the discus with a toss of 128' 7".
The 4x400 relay team was also second in 3:22.73.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Anderson (Ind.) Invitational.
Josh Stamper won the hammer throw with a heave of 126' 9" and the 4x100 relay team won in 1:42.40.
