Men’s Indoor 4x400 relay team breaks school record at Northwest Ohio Invitational
FINDLAY— Junior Joe Amstutz, sophomore Shane Huntley, sophomore Evan Heyman, and senior Jimmy O'Brien broke the men's indoor track and field 4x400 meter relay school record at the Northwest Ohio Invitational Friday night at the University of Findlay.
The team ran a time of 3:21.57, shattering the old record of 3:22.55 set by Amstutz, Huntley, O'Brien, and Jeff Messmer in 2008.
O'Brien also took first in the one-mile in of 4:17.55. Freshman Dan Smith finished second in 4:26.96 and freshman Kevin Stack finished fifth with a time of 4:32.93.
The Polar Bears donimated the 3,000-meter run with senior Thomas Adam taking first in 8:53.87. Junior Alan Bowsher finished second in 8:58.40, sophomore Jacob Schoenlein took fourth in 9:03.90 and senior Eric Porter placed fifth in 9:13.71.
In the pole vault, sophomore Andrew Lammers grabbed second place with a vault of 13-11.25.
The triple jump saw Ohio Northern place two jumpers in the top three. Senior Dominic Clouse took second with a jump of 40-8.25 while sophomore Timothy Yeh took third with a jump of 4-06.75.
Clouse also tied for fourth in the long jump with a leap of 20-5.75.
In the high jump, Timothy Pollack took fourth place with a jump of 5-11.50.
The 800-meter run saw two Polar Bears finish in the top five as freshman Corey Bailey grabbed third place in 2:01.09 and freshman Nick Baker taking fourth place in 2:01.38.
Overall, the Polar Bears has two first place finishers, four second place finishers, three third place finishers, five fourth place finishers, and two fifth place finishers in a very strong field dominated by division II and division III schools.
The meet was unscored.
Ohio Northern's will be in action again next Saturday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Relays at Otterbein.
