Men's Outdoor Track & Field finishes second of 20 at All-Ohio Championships
DELAWARE — The Ohio Northern men's outdoor track & field team finished second of 20 teams at the All-Ohio Championships Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan.
The Polar Bears (44-1) finished with 100 points.
Ohio Wesleyan won the team title with 108 points, Heidelberg was third with 89 and Baldwin-Wallace was fourth with 74.
Senior three-time NCAA Champion Jimmy O'Brien won the 800 and 1,500-meter runs to lead Ohio Northern.
O'Brien won the 800 in 1:53.37 and won the 1,500 in an NCAA qualifying time of 3:53.73.
The 4x100 relay team of senior Justin Linzy, sophomore Ryan Fleming, freshman Travis Althouse and sophomore Evan Heyman won in an NCAA Provisional time of 41.96 seconds.
Fleming also finished second in the 100-meter dash in an NCAA provisional effort of 10.72 seconds and was fourth in the 200 dash in a season-best :22.24.
Senior Thomas Adam finished second in the 5,000-meter run in 15:18.15.
The 4x400 relay team of Joe Amstutz, Shane Huntley, Heyman and O'Brien finished second in 3:20.54.
Sophomore Andrew Lammers and junior Jacob Weyrauch finished 2-3 in the pole vault as each cleared 14-10 1/4.
Freshman Scott Schnelle also had a top-5 finish, placing fifth in the high jump by clearing 6-3 1/2.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Kenyon Invitational.
