Men's Track & Field team opens outdoor schedule with victory at 17-team Emory (Ga.) Invitational
ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Ohio Northern men's track and field team opened its 2009 outdoor schedule with a victory at the 17-team Emory (Ga.) Invitational Friday and Saturday.
The Polar Bears (16-0) won the meet with 127.5 points.
Host Emory (Ga.) was second with 124.5 points, Hope (Mich.) was third with 121.5 and Loras (Iowa) was fourth with 84.5 points.
Senior Jimmy O'Brien won the 1,500 meters in 3:49.90, while senior Eric Porter took fifth in a career-best time of 3:58.02.
Sophomore Ryan Fleming placed second in the 100-meter dash with his fastest career time of 11.00 and he also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash in a time of 23.19.
Junior Alan Bowsher ran the 10,000-meter in a time of 32:09.99, which was good enough to give him second place.
Senior Thomas Adam finished right behind Bowsher in the fourth spot in 32:31.67.
Sophomore Andrew Lammers came second in the pole vault with a vault of 12-07.25.
Junior Joe Amstutz placed third in the 400-meter dash in 50.03, while sophomore Shane Huntley finished fifth in a career-best time of 51.03.
Sophomore Garrett Brown finished fourth in the 400-meter hurdles in a career-best time of 58.02.
The 4X100 relay team won in :42.56 and the 4X400 relay team won in 3:20.30.
The Polar Bears will return to action next Saturday at the Ohio Athletic Conference Split Meet at Wilmington.
