University announces new Dial-Roberson Stadium weight room with ribbon-cutting ceremony

ADA — University President Dan DiBiasio and Director of Athletics Tom Simmons were joined by nearly 100 student-athletes at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the newly equipped weight room at Dial-Roberson Stadium prior to the football game with Wilmington on Sept. 22.
The weights, racks and flooring were provided by a generous gift to the Polar Bear Club by ONU alumni Dave (BSPH '86 BSBA '87) and Melinda (BA ’87) Hileman.
The Hileman’s were instrumental in the overall success of the inaugural year of the Polar Bear Club, with a $100,000 matching gift.
This gift provided the opportunity to create a place for male and female student-athletes to improve their ability to perform at a high level.
Designed by athletics staff members with certification in strength training and conditioning, the new equipment allows more efficient use of the facility by a greater number of student-athletes in the same space.
