Polar Bears in the Pros

In the recent history of the Ohio Northern football program, ONU football players have signed contracts with a number of professional football teams.

Add to that list ONU Hall of Famer Stacey Hairston, who spent six seasons in the CFL and the NFL in the late 80s and early 90s, and it appears that the word is out about the quality of football at Ohio Northern.

ONU has three players currently under contract with professional football teams. Running back Jamal Robertson is with the Carolina Panthers in the NFL, while kicker J.R. Cipra just completed his 2006 season by winning the American Indoor Football League championship with the Canton Legends. Quarterback Shane Franzer helped the Port Huron Pirates of the Great Lakes Indoor Football League win the inaugural Great Lakes Bowl, going 12-0 on the season.

More and more professional scouts are realizing that Ohio Northern is becoming a hotbed of legitimate talent and will continue coming to Ada to give future Polar Bears the opportunity to continue their playing careers after graduation.
