Women's Lacrosse drops 19-5 home contest to Baldwin Wallace in regular season finale

ADA — Ohio Northern women's lacrosse team fell 19-5 at home against Baldwin Wallace in its regular season finale on a warm and sunny Wednesday evening. 

The Basics

• Records: Ohio Northern (10-7 overall, 3-4 OAC), Baldwin Wallace (9-8 overall, 5-2 OAC).
• Venue: Dial Roberson Stadium - Ada, Ohio.

The Game

• BW scored eight goals in the first period and led 8-0 heading into the second period. 
• Junior Emma Hoersten (Hilliard/Davidson) scored at 4:36 in the second period to get ONU on the scoreboard.
• The Yellow Jackets led 18-1 heading into the fourth period.
• Baldwin Wallace was led Rennick Mellon and Taylor Miklos, who scored four goals each. 
• Juniors Elena Martin (Canfield) and Mackenzie Miller (Maumee/Anthony Wayne) had a team-high two caused turnovers to help the Polar Bears. 
• Freshman Kara Fox (South Euclid/Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin) and sophomore Jenna Messinger (Springboro) combined for five saves in the contest. 
• BW out-shot ONU 28-10 and had the ground ball advantage 14-13. 

Notables

• Senior Keaghan Burden (Brunswick) is first all-time in Ohio Northern history with 229 career points. She is also ONU's all-time career leader with 123 assists and is second with 106 career goals.
• Burden leads the team in points this season with 71, which is also the single-season points record. 
• She has a team-high 30 assists this season and is fifth in the OAC. 
• BW leads the all-time series 6-4. 
• Senior Emma LoGiudice (Wooster) has a team-high 22 caused turnovers this season.
• She also has the single-season record this year in ground balls with 53. 
• Hoersten has nine hat tricks this season and 17 in her career.
• She is first in ONU history in career goals with 123 and second in points with 150. 
• Hoersten also leads the team this season in goals with a school single-season record of 56, which also good for fifth in the OAC. 
• She has the ONU career record in free-position goals with 40.
• Martin leads the team with 67 draw controls this year and is third all-time with 176.
• Ohio Northern has set a single-season program record with 10 victories this season.
• Head coach Margo Vandeveld is in her second season at Ohio Northern and has a 19-15 record, a winning percentage of .558.
