Sophomore Amy Bullimore records a double double to lead the No. 21 ranked Women's Basketball team past Mount Union 66-53

ALLIANCE — The No. 21 ranked women's basketball team defeated Mount Union Wednesday evening 66-53 at the MAAC Center to remain perfect in Ohio Athletic Conference play.
The Polar Bears improve to 10-2 overall, 5-0 OAC, while Mount Union falls to 9-3, 3-2.
Northern was led in the contest by sophomore Amy Bullimore who recorded her first double double of the season. Bullimore scored 15 points and recorded 10 rebounds in the contest.
Senior Karissa Steffas chipped in 13 points, while senior Brooke Espenschied added 11 points for the Polar Bears.
Northern would use a strong second half, outscoring the Purple Raiders 37-26, to win its eighth straight game en route to the victory.
The Polar Bears fell behind early in the first quarter but a three pointer from junior Britt Lauck with 7:26 to play would knot the score at 7-7.
Mount Union would return with a 5-0 run to once again regain the 12-7 advantage.
The Polar Bears would continue to battle late as a layup from Steffas would pull ONU within 18-21 to end the quarter.
Northern would open the second quarter with a 6-0 run capped by a layup from senior Precious Ramsey with 7:32 to play to give the Polar Bears the 24-21 advantage.
The Purple Raiders would respond once more, with a run of its own, to regain the lead 25-24 with 4:27 to play till the break.
ONU continued to battle as a pair of made free throws from Ramsey and a layup from Steffas would give the Polar Bears the 29-27 halftime advantage.
Northern opened the third quarter with a 6-0 run led by Bullimore to extend the Polar Bear lead to 31-27 with 8:56 remaining.
Mount Union continued to battle late in the quarter but ONU deemed to much as they out scored the Purple Raiders 17-10 in the quarter to push its lead to 46-37.
Lauck would lead a 9-0 run early in the fourth quarter that would extend the Polar Bear lead to 58-40 with 7:14 to play in the contest.
Northern would finish the contest shooting 48 percent from the field to claim the 66-53 victory.
Mount Union was led in the contest by Annie Bova with a team-high 11 points.
Northern returns to action Saturday as they host Marietta, tip off set for 3 pm.
