Sophomore Amy Bullimore scores 18 to lead No. 24 Women's Basketball in 67-62 win at John Carroll

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Sophomore Amy Bullimore scored 18 points to lead the No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern women's basketball team to a 67-62 victory at John Carroll on Saturday at the DeCarlo Center.
The Polar Bears improve to 5-2 overall and are 2-0 in Ohio Athletic Conference play, while the Blue Streaks fall to 4-3, 0-2.
Senior Carly Thomas scored 12 points, senior Brooke Espenschied scored 11 points and senior Karissa Steffas pulled down 10 rebounds for ONU.
Ohio Northern trailed 26-18 after the first quarter and 38-33 at halftime, but closed the third quarter on a 7-2 run to get within 48-47 with 10 minutes to play.
Junior Angela Tesny and Thomas drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to give Northern a 57-53 lead with 5:09 to go.
The score was tied at 62-all when Bullimore scored with 1:09 left to give the Polar Bears the lead for good at 64-62.
After a steal by Thomas on JCU's next possession, junior Britt Lauck made a pair of free throws to make it 66-62 with 18 seconds remaining.
Ohio Northern made 22-of-58 field goal attempts for 37.9 percent and John Carroll made 26-of-62 field goals for 41.9 percent.
ONU out-rebounded JCU 41-36.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Wednesday at Mount Union.
