Two goals from Chase Robinson leads No. 12 Men's Soccer to commanding 5-0 victory at Trine (Ind.)

ANGOLA, Ind. — Two goals from sophomore Chase Robinson (Blacklick/Gahanna) led the No. 12-ranked Ohio Northern men's soccer team to a commanding 5-0 victory at Trine (Ind.) on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

• Records: #12 Ohio Northern (4-0-1 Overall), Trine (0-5-1 Overall).
• Venue: Weaver Soccer Field — Angola, Ind.

The Match

• Robinson scored the first two goals just 4:06 apart, with an assist from freshman Miles Armstrong (Marysville) on the second goal.
• Freshman Anthony Mancani (Macomb, Mich./Brother Rice) scored off an assist from sophomore Landon Miller (Centerville) just 14 seconds before halftime to lead 3-0 at the break.
• Miller then scored in the 58th minute on an assist from fifth-year senior Tanner Locke (Canton, Mich./Salem).
• In the 64th minute, junior Colin Gottron (Centerville) scored off an assist from senior Gage Foster (Mason) to extend the lead to 5-0.
• Sophomore goalkeeper Carson Zurmehly (Batavia/McNicholas) had two saves in goal for ONU.
• ONU out-shot TU 18-4 and had a 12-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Notables

• The Polar Bears are now 4-0-1 all-time against Trine, including a 2-0 mark in Angola.
• This is the 7th time in program history and the first time since 2016 that ONU has been undefeated in their first five games.
• Gottron leads the team with five points off two goals and one assist.
• Zurmehly now has five career shutouts.
• Zurmehly leads the OAC in goals against average (.200), shutouts (4), total saves (16) and save percentage (.941).
• Gottron leads the OAC in game-winning goals (2), is tied for the lead in shots per game (3.00) and is third in total shots (15).
• This is the 51st season of Ohio Northern men's soccer. The Polar Bears are now 545-299-80 all-time in program history.
• Sixth-year head coach Chris Matejka is now 74-31-21 at Ohio Northern.
