Patel wins Medalist honors in record-breaking fashion as Men's Golf finishes third at Bluffton Fall Classic

BLUFFTON - Junior Aashir Patel (Schaumburg, Ill./Conant) won Medalist honors in record-breaking fashion, leading the Ohio Northern men's golf team to a third place finish Saturday and Sunday in Bluffton's 2025 Beaver Fall Classic.
The Basics
- Ohio Northern finished third of nine teams with a 14-over par 590.
- ONU Season Record: 24-3.

- Northwestern Ohio won the team title with a 588, Lourdes was second with a 589 and Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) was fourth with a 595.

- Patel came in first of 48 golfers, shooting 66-72—138, setting 18- and 36-hole school records in the process.
- Freshman Sam Cramer (Plain City/Alder) tied for 6th with a 73-75—148.
- Senior Bennett Christy (Plymouth, Ind.) tied for 9th with a 79-71—150.
- Senior Joey DeSimone (Munroe Falls/Stow-Munroe Falls) tied for 13th going 72-79—151.
- Freshman Alex Diesel (Cincinnati/Colerain) also tied for 13th, shooting 79-72—151.
Notables
- Patel broke the ONU Men's Golf school record with a 6-under-par 66 on day one of the tournament.
- ONU head coach Chad Bucci is 452-406-16 in his 13th season at the helm of the men's program, a winning percentage of .528.
