ADA — Derek May has been named head coach of the Ohio Northern men's and women's bowling teams.
May has been an assistant coach at ONU for the all three seasons of the program's existence.
"We are excited for the bowling program," ONU director of athletics Tom Simmons said. "We have come a long way in a short period of time and we feel Derek is the right person at the right time to continue the momentum built in our program."
He is a USBC Silver trained coach and bowled at the collegiate level at Bowling Green State University.
May was a four-year varsity athlete who made seven All-Tournament teams, and he assisted the team in winning seven tournaments during his collegiate career.
He got his USBC Bronze training in 2018 and Silver in 2019.
May will replace previous head coach Jeff Robinson, who founded the men's and women's programs in 2023 and will remain with the team as an assistant coach.
"We thank Jeff Robinson for starting the program and are happy he will still be a resource for our student-athletes," Simmons said.
