Baseball splits Senior Day doubleheader with Heidelberg losing 4-1 and then winning 3-2 in walk off fashion

ADA— The Ohio Northern baseball team split its senior day doubleheader Heidelberg losing 4-1 and winning 3-2 on a walkoff RBI single on a cold Saturday afternoon.

Game One, L 4-1

• Sophomore Aslyn Farineli (Crown Point, Ind.) got the start for the Polar Bears and threw 5.0 innings of work while allowing a single run.
• The Student Princes struck first but junior Evan Russ (Westfield, Ind.) hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game.
• Heidelberg jumped to a 4-1 lead thanks a a 3-run homer in the sixth.

Game Two, W 3-2

• Freshman Sammy Roush hit a walkoff RBI single to complete the 9th inning comback for the Polar Bears. 
• Freshman Drew Tolfree (East Lansing, Mich./Lansing Catholic) pitched 6.0 innings for Northern. 
• The Student Princes took the lead early with a 2-run third.
• Junior Kyler Lapp (Hall,Ill.) and Russ each pikced up RBI in the bottom of the ninth to set the table for the walk off.

• Ohio Northern now leads the all-time series with Heidelberg 94-69.
• With their win in game two Ohio Northern has clinched the #3 seed in the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.
• Through 39 games this season, Lapp leads the Polar Bears in batting with a .352 average.
• Senior Chase Armstrong (Lousiville, Ky./Trinity) is ONU's all-time leader in home runs with 29. He is also second all-time in ONU history in walks (101), is 3rd in RBIs (141), is fifth in doubles (42) and is fourth in runs scored (132).
• Fifth-year senior Andrew Stechschulte (Findlay) (171), Senior Robbie Reed (Goshen, Ky./Trinity)(154),  Senior Chase Armstrong (Lousiville, Ky./Trinity)(151), Lapp (146), and junior Evan Russ (Westfield, Ind.) (118) are all members of ONU's 100-Hit Club. 
• Stechschulte is also fourth in ONU history with 43 career doubles and is now sixth with 112 RBI.

• 15th-year head coach Gene Stechschulte is now 331-233 at Ohio Northern for a winning percentage of .589.
