ADA — Ohio Northern juniors Erin Wagner (Massillon/Perry) and Rachel Jennings (Novi, Mich.) were named Ohio Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week for the week of Sept. 11-17.
Wagner was named Offensive Player of the Week, and Jennings was named Defensive Player of the Week.
This is Wagner's second career OAC Player of the Week honor and Jennings' second straight this season. Jennings now has six such honors in her career.
Wagner earns the honor coming off a 66-kill performance last week when she hit a combined .411 to help lead the No. 23 Polar Bears to a 3-1 record with wins over Bluffton, Case Western Reserve and Albion (Mich.) and a tight, five-set loss to No. 5 Calvin (Mich.).
She tallied a single-game career-high 25 kills against CWRU and added 12 kills against Bluffton, 21 against Albion and eight against Calvin. Another highlight of her week was her .667 hitting percentage against Bluffton.
Wagner currently ranks third in the OAC in kills (147) and fourth in hitting percentage (.316). She owns a career .292 hitting percentage with 586 kills.
Jennings totaled 116 digs last week with 15 against Bluffton, 35 against CWRU, 40 against Albion and 26 against Calvin.
She came just two digs shy of tying her career-high with her total against Albion, and she added 10 service aces on the week.
Jennings currently leads the OAC with 275 digs on the season and has 1,266 career digs, which is just 201 shy of breaking into the top 10 of the school's all-time career digs list.
The Polar Bears (9-2 overall) return to action on Friday with a doubleheader against No. 22 Mt. St. Joseph and No. 16 Transylvania (Ky.) at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., respectively, in the OAC/HCAC Challenge at Otterbein.
