UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS — Ohio Northern at John Carroll in an Ohio Athletic Conference volleyball double header on Friday afternoon at the DeCarlo Center.
The Polar Bears (8-2 overall, 8-2 OAC), while the Blue Streaks fall to 4-6, 4-6.
In the opening game, Northern prevailed 25-13,25-15, 18-25, 25-23, 15-9.
Junior Melina Woods (Ada) had 15 kills and senior Hope Williamson (Noblesville, Ind./Heritage Christian) and junior Kiki Carle (Cincinnati/Mother of Mercy) added nine kills each.
Karle also dished out 29 assists and junior Hannah Irmer (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) had a career-high 30 digs for ONU.
Northern hit .038 on 48 kills and 32 errors, while JCU hit .172 with 50 kills and 20 errors.
In Match 2, Ohio Northern won a close 28-26, 26-24, 23-25, 25-23 match.
Woods added 15 more kills in the nightcap for a 30-kill evening.
Freshman MAdeline Gawthrop (New Paris, Ind./Fairfield) had 12 kills and freshman Sydney Eggleton (Southfield, Mich./Farmington) had 11 kills for ONU.
The Polar Bears will return to action on Tuesday with two home matches against Heidelberg at the ONU Sports Center.
