COLUMBUS — The No. 22-ranked Ohio Northern volleyball team extended its winning streak to 12 matches with a 3-0 sweep at Capital on Saturday afternoon at Performance Arena.
The Polar Bears improve to 19-4 overall and 5-0 in the Ohio Athletic Conference, while the Crusaders fall 6-19, 1-4.
Junior Ashley Borchers posted a double-double for Northern as she recorded a game-high 26 assists while adding 11 digs and a game-high four serving aces.
Senior Ellie Gillespie led the Polar Bear offense with a game-high 12 kills on the afternoon.
Northern wasted no time as they jumped out to a quick 10-1 lead in the first set, thanks to an early 7-0 run capped off by sophomore Haley Potters' first kill of the evening.
After leading the Crusaders 6-5 in the second match, the Polar Bears would go on a 6-0 run to push their lead to 12-5. From there, Northern would outscore Capital 13-12 en route to 25-17 set two victory.
After ONU pulled ahead 17-7 in the third set, Capital would go on a 10-3 run to pull within 20-17.
Northern was able to close set three out on a 4-0 run to seal the victory.
Capital was led by Graysan Braun as she recorded a team-high 10 kills.
The Polar Bears will return to action Tuesday evening as they travel to Tiffin to take on Heidelberg at 7 pm.
