Volleyball notches 3-0 sweep of Regional foe Denison

ADA — The Ohio Northern volleyball team earned a victory over regional foe Denison on Tuesday night at the ONU Sports Center.
The Polar Bears (5-7) swept the Big Red (5-7) 25-15, 25-21, 25-15.
Junior Ellen Grenert led the way for the Polar Bears with a match-high nine kills on a .421 clip. Sophomore Cenzie Yoder added eight kills, while hitting .500 for the match.
Sophomore Jeni Kmic recorded a match-high 15 digs. Freshmen Hannah English and Amanda Volosin dished out 21 and 13 assists respectively.
The Polar Bears got off to a quick start in set one. The Polar Bears owned a 15-7 advantage thanks to kills from Yoder and sophomores Kristen Davidson and Nicole Potkotter.
A Grenert kill and a Denison attack error gave ONU the first set.
With the score tied at 13-13 in the second set, the Polar Bears put together a seven-point service highlighted by kills from Yoder and English.
A Grenert kill gave the Polar Bears the second set.
The Polar Bears got off to a quick 10-4 start in the final set highlighted by kills from sophomores Julia Fuerst and Jayce Born.
A four-point service run gave ONU a 19-8 advantage. The Polar Bears maintained the lead and won the match off another Grenert kill.
The Polar Bears return to action on Friday when they host the OAC/HCAC Challenge at the ONU Sports Center.
