Five Polar Bears named to College Sports Communicators Women’s Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District Team

ADA — Ohio Northern seniors Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton), Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) and Ashley Hockstok (Westerville/Central) and juniors Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) and Lauryn Wolters (Anna) were named to the 2024-25 Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-District Team by College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have a GPA of at least 3.50 and must have posted an individual top 50 mark in the region in an individual event (XC, indoor or outdoor).
Burman, an accounting major, is now a two-time Academic All-District and three-time Academic All-OAC honoree.
In indoor, Burman ranked first in the region in the weight throw and 5th in the shot put. In outdoor, she ranked first in the region in shot put, first in hammer and 13th in discus.
She competed at both the indoor and outdoor NCAA Track and Field Championships, finishing 13th in the weight throw in indoor and fifth in the shot put and 20th in the hammer in outdoor. She earned All-America honors with her fifth place finish in the shot put.
Friend is also a two-time Academic All-District and three-time Academic All-Conference selection.
In indoor, the psychology major ranked tied for third in the region in shot put and fourth in the weight throw. In outdoor, she ranked first in the discus, second in the shot put and fourth in the hammer.
She earned All-America honors after finishing eighth in the discus at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Hockstok, a civil engineering major, is now a three-time Academic All-District and three-time Academic All-OAC award winner.
In cross country, she earned Second Team All-OAC accolades after an 11th place finish at the OAC Championships.
In indoor, she ranked 28th in the region in the 5000, 34th in the 3000 and 44th in the mile. In outdoor, she ranked sixth in the region in the 10,000, 42nd in the 5000 and 50th in the 1500.
Ford is a first-time Academic All-District selection and a two-time Academic All-Conference honoree.
The civil engineering major ranked third in the region in the pole vault, 12th in the triple jump, and tied for 20th in the high jump in indoor. She also ranked third in the pole vault in outdoor, and was tied for 16th in triple jump and tied for 33rd in high jump.
She earned a bid to the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in the pole vault, placing 13th.
Wolters, a middle childhood education major, is a first-time Academic All-District and Acadmic All-Conference selection.
She ranked tied for 13th in the region in the triple jump and tied for 15th in long jump for indoor, and was 14th in the triple jump and tied for 19th in the long jump in outdoor.
