Six Polar Bears named All-Great Lakes Region in Women's Outdoor Track and Field for 2025 by USTFCCCA

ADA — Ohio Northern senior Hannah Friend (Luckey/Eastwood) leads a list of six athletes that were named All-Great Lakes Region in women's outdoor track and field for 2025 by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches of America.
The top five individuals in each event and each of the members of a top-three ranked relay team from each region earned All-Region honors.
Seniors Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) and Olyvia Ashbrook (Johnstown/Northridge), juniors Ellie Ford (Upper Arlington) and Claire Schweller (Paulding) and freshman Emersyn Gerken (Liberty Center) also earned the award.
Friend led the way for ONU as an All-Region honoree in the shot put, discus and hammer throw. She ranks first in the region and tied for 10th nationally in discus with a school-record throw of 46.09 meters, second in the region and tied for 14th nationally in shot with a toss of 14.00 meters and fourth in the region in the hammer with a throw of 50.75 meters.
Burman earned All-Region honors in the shot put and hammer throw. She ranks first in the region and sixth nationally in the shot put with a school-record throw of 14.25 meters and ranks first in the region and 15th nationally in the hammer with another school record of 53.65 meters.
Schweller is first in the region and eighth nationally in the pole vault with a season-best of 3.95 meters.
Ashbrook is fourth in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:03.01.
Ford is third in the pole vault at 3.74 meters.
Gerken is fourth in the high jump at 1.62 meters
The 2025 outdoor season concludes May 22-24 at the NCAA Division III Championships in Geneva, Ohio. The top 22 individuals in each event and top 16 school relay teams will qualify for the national meet.
