Junior Izzy Burman named OAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern junior Izzy Burman (Benton Ridge/Liberty Benton) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 15-21.

This is Burman's second time recieving the honor.

The recognition comes after she broke the school record and won the weight throw with a toss of 16.75 meters at the Larry Cole Invitational on Friday at the ONU Sports Center. Burman also placed third in the shot put.

That mark was a career best and ranks first in the conference. Previously, Burman's career best was 15.92 and was second in school history.

Burman was the OAC Champion in both shot put and weight throw last year at the indoor conference meet. She was also a USTFCCCA All-Great Lakes Region honoree for both shot put and weight throw for the 2022-2023 indoor season.

The Polar Bears return to action on Saturday at Muskingum at 11 am.
