Sophomore Claire Schweller named OAC Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern sophomore Claire Schweller (Paulding) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Nov. 27 to Dec. 3.

This marks the first such honor for Schweller in her career.

The recognition comes after she finished tied for third in the pole vault with a height of 3.70 meters at the Findlay Oiler Opener on Friday.

That mark was a career best and ranks sixth all-time at ONU. It also currently ranks first nationally in NCAA Division III. Her previous career-best mark was 3.61 meters.

Schweller was an All-OAC and All-Great Lakes Region honoree in the indoor pole vault last season.

The Polar Bears return to action on Jan. 19, when they host the fifth annual Larry Cole Invitational at 5 p.m.
