Weekend Preview: The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team is competing in a split-squad weekend at Day 1 of the two-day Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet on Friday and the Tiffin Open on Saturday … Between the men's and women's teams, Northern has 18 student-athletes competing on Friday, with the remainder competing on Saturday … For Friday's meet, running events begin at 8:30 a.m. and field events begin 12 p.m. … For Saturday's meet, both the running and field events begin at 12 p.m. … ONU is ranked No. 7 in the Great Lakes Region in the Week 3 USTFCCCA poll, which was released on Monday … Northern is coming off last Friday and Saturday's Ashland Open, which was not team scored … The Polar Bears posted two top-10 finishes at the meet courtesy of junior Allie Starner and freshman Riley Heitkamp … Starner finished seventh in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of :09.88 … Heitkamp placed ninth in the high jump with a personal-best mark of 1.55 meters … The Polar Bears also fared well in the pole vault with five top-20 finishes … Freshman Ellie Ford led the way in that event, finishing tied for 12th with a season-best mark of 3.50 meters, which ranks fifth in the Ohio Athletic Conference this season and is eighth all-time at ONU … The Polar Bears currently hold five top-three marks in the OAC this season … Sophomore Izzy Burman leads the OAC in the weight throw with a mark of 15.83 meters and is second in the conference in the shot put with a distance of 12.16 meters … Those distances rank second and sixth, respectively, all-time at ONU … Senior Tessa Pitcovich leads the OAC in the 5,000 with a time of 17:45.84 … Senior Taylor Ellerbrock ranks third in the OAC in the 3,000 with a time of 10:26.29, which ranks seventh all-time at ONU … Sophomore Toria Ingalls ranks third in the OAC in the high jump with a mark of 1.57 meters.
Head Coach Jason Maus: Maus is in his 14th season as the head coach at ONU … He owns a 503-166-1 overall record indoors for a .752 winning percentage and a 426-168-3 overall record outdoors for a .716 winning percentage.
