Saturday's Meet: The Ohio Northern women's indoor track and field team is competing at the Wittenberg Invitational on Saturday in what is its final meet before the Ohio Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 25-26 … Field events begin at 11 a.m., and running events start at noon … Northern is coming off last Saturday's All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein University … The Polar Bears finished with 40 points, placing sixth of 16 teams … Senior Rue Whitmore led ONU with a second-place finish in the 5,000 meters with a time of 18:49.64 … Junior Anna Schatzle finished third in the pole vault with a high vault of 3.49 meters … Sophomore Megan Vapenik added a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meters, running a time of 19:09.21 … Freshman Ashley Hockstock rounded out ONU's top-five finishers, placing fifth in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:23.53 … Senior Tessa Pitcovich competed in the 5,000 meters at the Grand Valley State (Mich.) Big Meet the day before, placing 14th with a time of 17:46.30, which was converted to 17:54.51 to adjust for track size … The Polar Bears currently have three student-athletes ranked within the top 50 in NCAA Division III in their respective events … Schatzle ranks 25th in the pole vault (3.55 meters) … Pitcovich ranks 38th in the 5,000 meters (17:54.51) … Senior Kayla Silva ranks 43rd in the 60 meters (:07.90) … Silva holds the program record in the 60 meters (:07.82) … At the end of the season, the top 20 in each event qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships.
