ADA — Ohio Northern junior Emily Richards (Delaware/Hayes) has been named the Women's Outdoor Ohio Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week for the week of Mar. 19-25.
Richards turned in another record setting performance as she competed in the Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State University in Raleigh, N.C.
On the first day of the invitational, Richards broke the school record, ran the fastest time nationally among Div. III athletes, and ran the tenth fastest time in Div. III history in the 1,500-meter run in 4:23.21.
Richards finished sixth overall in the Div. I-dominated field.
On the final day of the invitational, Richards finished second overall and was the first collegiate athlete to cross the finish line in the 800-meter run, falling only to professional runner Kenyetta Iyevbele in the event.
The junior posted the fastest time in the country after finishing the race in 2:06.06, and currently owns the fastest time in the event across all three divisions.
The Polar Bears return to the track this weekend as Northern competes in the Centre (Ky.) Invitational.
