Women's Track & Field finish third at OAC North Meet

BEREA — The Ohio Northern women's track & field finished 3rd of 5 teams Friday night at the OAC North Meet, hosted by Baldwin-Wallce.

Northern finished with 117.5 points and are now 2-2 overall. Host B-W finished first with 218 points, followed by Mount Union with 189.5 points. John Carroll (115 points) and Heidelberg (42 points) finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Two seniors led the team with first-place performances. Aubrie Stechschulte took the top spot in the pole vault, clearing 10-11.75 and Kelly Casanova took first in the 5,000 in 18:05.61.

The distance medley relay squad of junior Lydia Weaver, sophomore Brooke Larsen, and freshmen Shayla Siefker and Sarah Meyer took second in 12:51.10.

Siefker also placed second in the 1,000 run in 3:12.46, while junior Alison Steinbrunner also placed second in the 5,000 in 18:05.79.

Weaver earned third place in the 1,000 at 3:13.26 and sophomore Jessica Durham led throwers with a third place finish in the weight throw (44-6.25).

Northern hosts its annual Joe Banks Invitational next Saturday at the ONU Sports Center.
