NAPERVILLE, Ill. - Sophomore Alison Steinbrunner set a new school record in the 5,000-meter run this weekend, and five Ohio Northern women's track and field team members competed at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central (Ill.) on Thursday and Friday.
The meet was a non-scoring event.
Steinbrunner's time, 17:31.68, breaks the previous record of 17:40.35, set by Mandy Miller in 2001. Her time is also an NCAA provisional qualifying mark, and she placed eleventh overall in the event.
Senior Brittany Farber also posted a season-best performance, placing tenth in the 800-meter run in 2:13.36, running an NCAA provisional time again this season.
Also competing for the Polar Bears were sophomore Mallory Bloom, senior Rebecca Silverstein and junior Ashley Sottoway.
Bloom and Silverstein placed thirty-fourth and thirty-sixth in the 5,000-meter run in 18:59.61 and 19:02.10.
Sottoway placed twenty-fourth in the 100-meter hurdles in 17.76 and sixteenth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:06.67.
Ohio Northern will return to North Central again next Thursday to compete at the Gregory Invitational.
