WILMINGTON — The Ohio Northern women's swimming and diving team swept all 13 events and posted a 163-58 Ohio Athletic Conference at Wilmington on Friday night.

The Basics

  • Records: Ohio Northern (2-1 overall, 2-0 OAC), Wilmington (0-2 Overall, 0-2 OAC).
  • Venue: Wilmington Natatorium - Wilmington, Ohio.
  • The race distances were in meters as Wilmington has a 25-meter pool.

Meet Highlights

  • Sophomores Lila DeLong (New Albany) and Abby Leatherman (Findlay/Van Buren) and freshman Catherine Greenlee (Fort Wayne, Ind./Carroll) each won four events to lead the Polar Bears.
  • DeLong won the 400-meter free in 5:21.30, the 100 fly in 1:18.14 and the 200 free in 2:34.46.
  • She also combined with freshman Chloe Schopperth (Centerville), senior Lindsay Weininger (Upper Sandusky) and senior Marisa Savini (Troy/Miami East) to win the 200 free relay in 2:04.99.
  • Leatherman won the 50 breast in :38.85, the 100 breast in 1:23.03 and the 100 I.M. in 1:15.03. 
  • Greenlee won the 100 free in 1:04.45, the 50 free in :29.15 and the 50 fly in :31.62.
  • Leatherman and Greenlee also combined with sophomore Kate Kalmanowicz (New Freedom, Pa./Susquehannock) and Schopperth to win the 200 medley relay in 2:15.13.
  • Kalmanowicz also won the 50 back in :28.63 and the 100 back in 1:15.39.

Notables

  • The meet consisted of 13 events, including 11 individual races and relays.
  • Ohio Northern won six of the 11 individual races and both relays.
  • Austin Veltman is 32-33 in his eighth season as head coach of the Polar Bears.
