Women's Soccer celebrates Senior Day with 3-0 win over Marietta for fourth straight victory

ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team got a 3-0 win over Ohio Athletic Conference foe Marietta on Saturday afternoon as the Polar Bears celebrated Senior Day on Homecoming weekend. Saturday's game marked the regular-season finale for ONU and the Polar Bears' fourth straight victory.

The Match
- ONU senior Emma Cook (Marysville/Fairbanks) opened the scoring with a goal just 2:23 into the game. The goal was assisted by senior Kylie Cabana (Dexter, Mich.).
- The Polar Bears led 1-0 at halftime and scored again 3:17 into the second half courtesy of a goal from senior Alaina Casey (Beavercreek/Carroll) that was assisted by juniors Alyssa Beckett (Monroe) and Elizabeth Pierce (Liberty Township/Mount Notre Dame).
- Beckett capped the scoring in the 54th minute with a goal to give ONU the 3-0 lead.
- Freshman Morgan Moeller (Harrison/Roger Bacon) played all 90 minutes in goal for ONU and recorded five saves in her fifth career shutout.
- Ohio Northern out-shot Marietta 22-7 and had an 11-0 edge in corner kicks.

- Prior to the game, the Polar Bears held a ceremony recognizing their six seniors: Cook, Cabana, Casey, Kate Helton (Beavercreek), Jill Roberts (Bellbrook/Carroll) and Bri Straus (Fishers, Ind./Hamilton Southeastern).
- Ohio Northern has clinched the No. 3 seed in the 2023 OAC Tournament. The six-team tournament will begin with the quarterfinals on Tuesday, Oct. 31, on campus sites. ONU will host the No. 6 seed in the quarterfinals.
- Cook's goal was the third of her career, all of which have come this season.
- Casey's goal was her first of the season and the ninth of her career.
- Beckett's goal was her third of the season. She has 35 career points on 15 goals and five assists.
- With Saturday's assist, Cabana now has 32 career points 10 goals and 12 assists.
- ONU leads the all-time series with Marietta by a 28-6-2 margin, including a 15-2-1 margin at home and 5-0-0 at Kerscher Stadium. Northern has now won 17 consecutive matches in the series by a combined score of 62-1.
