Carissa Beckham, Kristy Catrine named Scholar All-Americans by United Soccer Coaches

ADA — Ohio Northern seniors Carissa Beckham (Mason/Mount Notre Dame) and Kristy Catrine (Springboro) were named to the 2021 NCAA Division III Scholar All-American Team by United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced on Thursday.
Beckham and Catrine were both Scholar All-America Second Team selections.
Beckham, a First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference selection for 2021, also earned First Team All-Region 7 and Third Team All-America from United Soccer Coaches this season.
A three-year starter and three-time All-OAC honoree, Beckham was part of a Polar Bear defense that limited opponents to just 15 goals (0.68 per game) this season while posting 14 shutouts, and she earned a spot on the All-OAC Tournament Team.
She has four points via one goal and two assists in 67 career games, including 59 starts.
Beckham boasts a 3.74 GPA in biology.
This is the second straight year for Cartrine to be named a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American.
Catrine, who in 2021 was named First Team All-OAC and the conference's Goalkeeper of the Year for the second straight season, was a three-time OAC Player of the Week selection and an All-OAC Tournament honoree this year.
She started all 22 games for the Polar Bears this season, allowing 15 goals and posting 13 shutouts while tallying 74 saves, an .831 save percentage and a 0.67 GAA. Her 13 shutouts are tied for second-most in a season in program history, and her 21 career shutouts are fifth-most on the program's all-time leaderboard. The 0.67 GAA is the sixth-best season-long mark in program history on a list she tops with her 0.09 GAA from 2020.
As a junior, Catrine earned CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team and Academic All-District 7 First Team honors and was an Academic All-OAC, All-OAC Tournament Team and three-time OAC Player of the Week selection.
Catrine has a career record of 22-6-5 with 105 saves, 0.47 GAA and .868 save percentage in 33 games, including 32 starts.
Catrine boasts a 3.94 GPA in pharmacy.
In all, just 42 student-athletes were named United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-Americans with 14 selections for each of the First, Second and Third Teams.
Student-athletes on this year's Scholar All-America Teams will be formally acknowledged for their accomplishments on the field and in the classroom at the United Soccer Coaches All-America Ceremony and Reception on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022 at the Kansas City Convention Center in conjunction with the United Soccer Coaches Convention.
The Polar Bears posted a record of 14-5-3 and won their fourth OAC Tournament championship in 2021 to earn their sixth NCAA Tournament appearance in program history.
