ADA — The Ohio Northern women's soccer team will host Centre College and Bowling Green State University Saturday April 11th in a spring game to be held at Kerscher Stadium.
Each team will play two 60 minute games with Centre and Bowling Green kicking off the day at 1 pm. Ohio Northern will then face Bowling Green at 2:30 pm, followed by Centre at 4 pm.
"We are excited about hosting our spring play day with Bowling Green State University and Centre College. Both teams will be a great test for our kids," said head coach Mark Batman. "Head Coach Lindsay Basalyga at BGSU is in her early years as the leader of that program, and I have known her for quite some time. She's done a great job with that team and it will be fun to compete with them on the 11th. Centre College is coming fresh off advancing to the Elite 8 and seconds from a final four appearance. Our girls are looking forward to playing both teams for different reasons. Coach Hoffman from Centre College took charge of the women's soccer program at the same time I did at ONU and we have been good friends for some time now. It will be a fun day for all of us."
Following Ohio Northern's game aganist Centre Saturday, the Polar Bears will be hosting an alumni social event at the INN on the campus of Ohio Northern, open to all women's soccer alumni.
"It's great to catch up with the alumni, see how they are doing in their personal and professional lives and tell some stories of way back when… We look forward to this weekend each year and it's a fantastic way to cap off our spring season," said Batman.
The Polar Bears will also be hosting its annual alumni game to be held Sunday April 12th at 11 am.
"This is always a very exciting day for ONU Women's Soccer. We look forward to this game every spring season. Playing games on the 11th allow the alumni to get a vision of the team for the following season, potentially see some new faces if they missed a game from the fall and then they will get their chance against the girls on Sunday," said Batman.
Women's soccer opens its 2015 season September 1st as they host Kenyon.
