WILLIAMSPORT, P.a. — The No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern wrestling team placed 4th of 16 teams at the Budd Whitehill National Duals at Lycoming (Pa.) on Friday and Saturday. 

The Basics

  • Records: Ohio Northern (10-3 Overall), Wisconsin-Stevens Point (Wisc.) (4-7 Overall), Oswego State (N.Y.) (0-7 Overall), #16 Stevens (N.J) (6-6 Overall), Springfield (Mass.) (8-1 Overall), #23 Williams (Mass.) (5-5 Overall) 
  • The dual tournament took place over two days, January 9th and 10th.
  • Friday January 9th was a roundrobin style to determine seeds for Saturday the 10th.

  • #5 Sophomore Myles Johnson (Springboro) went 5-0 with two tech. falls at 197. 
  • Freshman Ben Hegler (Brecksville/Brecksville-Broadview Heights) went 4-1 with a tech. fall at 165. 
  • Freshman Troy Dyszkiewicz (Cleveland, Tenn./Walker Valley) went 4-1 at 285.
  • Freshman Kurt Mokros (Lewis Center/Olentangy) went 3-2 at the 125 pound weight class.  
  • Sophomore Chase Vanderhorst (Covington) went 3-1 with a pin at 133.
  • Sophomore Casper Caizzo (Norwalk/St. Paul) went 2-2 with a pin at 141. 
  • Sophomore Max Kaye (Dayton/Piqua) went 1-2 with a pin at 149.
  • Sophomore Aaron Turner (Dayton/Butler) went 0-1 at 149.
  • Sophomore Jovanni Greco (Ross) went 2-2 with a pin at 157.
  • Freshman Jack Hoffman (Springboro) went 1-4 with a tech. fall at 174. 
  • Senior Ajay Locke (Lancaster) went 1-4 at 184

Notables

  • The Polar Bears finished 4 out of 16 teams. 
  • Freshman Londen Murphy (Moscow/Moeller) has a team-high 13 pins this season with a 20-0 record. Murphy finished second after he took a medical default in the final.
  • Johnson is 22-2 on the season with five pins and 8 tech falls.
  • Hegler is 22-5 on the season with seven pins and four tech falls.
