Reed, Vanderhorst, Johnson lead list of six Polar Bears named All-OAC in Wrestling for 2025

ADA — Ohio Northern seniors Jacob Reed (Canal Winchester/Lancaster) and Cael Vanderhorst (Covington) and freshman Myles Johnson (Springboro) were named First Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference, highlighting a list of six Ohio Northern student-athletes who were named All-OAC for the 2024-25 season in voting conducted by the league's head coaches.
Earning Second Team accolades were seniors Jayden Jones (Ashland), Adam Myers (Springfield/STEM Academy) and Gavin Layman (Chesterton, Ind.).
Reed was also named the John Summa OAC Wrestler of the Year for the second time in his career, as he also won the award as a sophomore in 2023.
He also earned the OAC Most Falls/Least Amount of Time Award with five falls in 5:53 against OAC opponents.
Reed, a three-time All-American at 141 pounds, is now a four-time All-OAC honoree, earning First Team honors in 2023, 2024 and 2025 and Second Team accolades in 2022. He was also the John Summa Wrestler of the Year in the OAC as a sophomore in 2023.
Currently ranked No. 1 nationally at 141 pounds, Reed is a perfect 29-0 on the season, including a 6-0 OAC record, with a team-high 17 pins, two technical falls and is tied for the team lead in major decisions with 6. He is looking to become just the fourth wrestler in program history to complete an undefeated season.
In his career at ONU, Reed is 2nd all-time in ONU history in career wins with a 145-7 record. He is also 1st in ONU history with a career winning percentage of .954.
Vanderhorst, a first time All-OAC honoree, is 26-8 on the season, including a 7-0 OAC record at 149 pounds. He recorded eight pins, four tech falls and five major decisions.
In his career, Vanderhorst has a 74-23 record, which puts him at 45th all-time in ONU history.
Johnson, also a first time All-OAC honoree, is 35-3 in his first season at ONU, including a 7-0 OAC record at 285 pounds. He recorded seven pins, four major decisions and a team-high 15 technical falls.
Johnson is currently ranked No. 13 nationally at 285 pounds.
Another first time All-OAC honoree, Jones was 15-9 on the season with a 3-1 OAC record at 157 pounds. He has five pins, 1 technical fall and four major decisions.
Jones has a career 75-44 record, which is tied for 43rd all-time in ONU history.
Myers is now a two-time All-Conference honoree after earning First Team accolades in 2024. This season, he has a 14-9 record at 174 pounds, including a 5-1 OAC record with one pin, seven technical falls and three major decisions.
In his career, Myers has an 84-44 record, putting him at 32nd all-time in ONU history.
Layman is now a three-time All-OAC honoree, earning First Team honors as a sophomore in 2023 and Second Team accolades in 2024. He had a 25-6 record this season at 197 pounds, including a 6-1 OAC record with five pins, three technical falls and five major decisions.
Layman has a career record of 119-48 and is ranked 6th all-time in ONU history.
The Polar Bears went 16-7 this season and were second in the OAC with a 5-1 record.
No. 15-ranked Ohio Northern returns to action on Sunday at the Adrian (Mich.) Futures Invitational at 10 a.m.
