Grace Honigford wins Medalist honors to lead No. 24-ranked Women's Golf to second place finish at Muskingum Invitational

ZANESVILLE — Freshman Grace Honigford (West Chester/Lakota East) won Medalist honors to lead the No. 24-ranked Ohio Northern women's golf team Muskingum Spring Invitational on Monday at the Zanesville Country Club.

The Polar Bears (18-3 overall) finished second of five teams with 351.

Honigford was first out of 29 golfers with an 80 to earn Medalist honors for the second time in six tournaments in her career.

Sophomore Olivia Galigher (Bolivar/Tuscarawas) was eighth with an 87, senior Lydia Cranmer (Farmington Hills, Mich./Ladywood) tied for 11th with an 89, sophomore Torrie Smith (Russiaville, Ind./Western) tied for 15th with a 95 and freshman Rylie Smith (Cambridge/Buckeye Trail) tied for 17th with a 97.

Playing as an individual, sophomore Karlee Staugler (Saint Henry) finished tied for fourth with a career-low 83.

Otterbein won the team title with a 336, Muskingum was third with a 338, Marietta was fourth with a 391 and Capital was fifth with a 403.

The Polar Bears will return to action on Friday when they host the Polar Bear Classic at Colonial Golfers Club.
