Women's Golf opens 2014 spring season at 36-hole Las Vegas Desert Classic

LAS VEGAS, Nev. — The Ohio Northern women's golf team opened its 2014 spring season by competing in the 36-hole Las Vegas Desert Classic Sunday-Monday at the Paiute Golf Resort.

The Polar Bears finished 14th of 14 teams, 11 of which were NCAA Division II schools, with a 386-382—768 on the 5,911-yard Sun Mountain Course.

Tarleton State (N.J.) won the team title with a 310-302—612, Colorado State-Pueblo was second with a 322-326—648 and Ashland was third with a 329-322—651.

Junior Megan Conley led Ohio Northern with a 62nd place finish out of 75 golfers with a 92-93—185.

Freshman Hannah Whisler was 65th with a 100-91—191, junior Allison Fye was 66th with a 92-100—192 and freshman Ariana Tomasula was 71st with a 102-98—200.

Tarleton State's Isabell Jumenez Perea took medalist honors with a 5-over par 77-72—149.

The Polar Bears will return to action March 22-23 at the Mount Union Shootout.
