Women's Basketball falls at Capital 59-49

BEXLEY — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell to Capital 59-49 on Saturday afternoon.
- Records: Ohio Northern (7-13 Overall, 6-5 OAC), Capital (14-6 Overall, 7-4 OAC).
- Venue: Capital Center — Bexley, Ohio.
The Game
- Sophomore Charlotte Pauling (Beavercreek) led ONU with 11 points, six rebounds and two assists.
- Junior Lexee Brewer (Sidney) and freshman Priscilla Adjei (Westerville/Central) also had a team-high six boards each.
- Brewer and junior Courtney Sumner (Ada) each led the team with two steals.
- Adjei, junior Gabi Croft (Spencerville) and freshman Taylor Wager (Versailles) each added eight points for the Polar Bears.
- Capital was led by Samaree Perkins with 16 points.
- Northern went on a 5-0 run in the first quarter to take an 11-5 lead.
- The Comets answered with a 9-0 run, going up 14-11 with 53 seconds left in the first quarter.
- A three from sophomore Logan Phillips (Troy/Miami East) tied the game up at 14 going into the second quarter.
- Capital started the second quarter with an 11-0 run to go up 25-14.
- The Comets led 28-23 at halftime.
- ONU opened the second half with an 8-0 run to take a 31-28 lead.
- The Polar Bears led 40-39 at the end of the third quarter.
- An 8-0 run to start the fourth gave Capital the lead back.
- Northern was able to cut Capital's lead to two, but they couldn't regain the lead.
- Ohio Northern made 20-of-51 field goals for 39.2 percent and was 2-of-18 from beyond the arc for 11.1 percent, while Capital was 20-of-50 from the floor for 40.0 percent and finished 5-of-22 on 3-pointers for 22.7 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 7-of-9 free throws for 77.8 percent and the Comets were 14-of-20 from the line for 70.0 percent.
- ONU out-rebounded CU 33-28.
