Gray scores 17, but Women's Basketball falls 67-59 at Mount Union

ALLIANCE — The Ohio Northern women's basketball team fell 67-59 at Mount Union on Saturday afternoon.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (2-8 Overall, 2-1 OAC), Mount Union (9-3 Overall, 2-2 OAC).
- Venue: McPherson Academic and Athletic Complex — Alliance, Ohio.
The Game
- Sophomore Emerson Gray (Liberty Center) led the Polar Bears with 17 points and four assists along with four boards and two steals.
- Sophomore Charlotte Pauling (Beavercreek) had a team-high seven rebounds and added five points.
- Junior Gabi Croft (Spencerville) had 13 points.
- Junior Lexee Brewer (Sidney) had a team-best three steals and 11 points.
- Mount Union was led by Lily Scott with 13 points.
- ONU trailed 17-8 after the first quarter.
- The Polar Bears started the second quarter with six straight points off and ones from Brewer and freshman Taylor Wagner (Versailles).
- Brewer then made back-to-back three pointers to give Northern their first lead of the game, going up 24-22 with 5:28 left in the half.
- ONU outscored Mount Union 21-11 in the second quarter, leading 29-28 going into halftime.
- Neither team led by more than four points after a back-and-forth third quarter, ending with Mount Union leading 47-45.
- The fourth quarter started with more back-and-forth action, until the Raiders went on a 7-0 run late in the quarter to take a 65-56 lead with 32 seconds left.
- Croft made a three-pointer with 20 seconds left to cut Mount Union's lead to six points, but the Raiders made two free throws to end the game.
- Ohio Northern made 23-of-52 field goals for 44.2 percent and was 3-of-12 from beyond the arc for 25.0 percent, while Mount Union was 23-of-51 from the floor for 45.1 percent and finished 5-of-16 on 3-pointers for 31.3 percent.
- The Polar Bears made 10-of-15 free throws for 66.7 percent and the Purple Raiders were 16-of-18 from the line for 88.9 percent.
- UMU out-rebounded ONU 33-24.

- Ohio Northern is now 53-36 all-time against Mount Union, including a 21-22 record in Alliance.
- Gray leads the Polar Bears in scoring (13.7 ppg), assists (2.4 apg) and steals (1.9 spg) and is second in rebounding with 5.5 rpg.
- Pauling leads the team in rebounding (5.9 rpg) and is second in scoring at 12.2 ppg.
- This is the 54th season of Ohio Northern women's basketball. The Polar Bears are now 780-523 all-time in program history for a winning percentage of .599.
- Sixth-year head coach Mark Huelsman is now 89-46 at Ohio Northern, a winning percentage of .659.
