Emerson Gray leads Women's Basketball to 75-40 win at Wilmington to start OAC play

WILMINGTON — Sophomore Emerson Gray (Liberty Center) led the Ohio Northern women's basketball team in a 75-40 win at Wilmington on Wednesday night to start Ohio Athletic Conference play.

The Basics

• Gray led the Polar Bears with 18 points and had five rebounds.
• Sophomore Katelyn Stechschulte (Findlay) had a team-high nine boards to go with two points and two assists.
• Sophomore Charlotte Pauling (Beavercreek) had 13 points and eight rebounds.
• Junior Courtney Sumner (Ada) added 12 points and two assists.
• Junior Gabi Croft (Spencerville) had 11 points.
• Junior Lexee Brewer (Sidney) had a team-best two steals.
• Northern started the game on a 23-0 run, including 12 points from Gray.
• Wilmington scored their first basket with 2:41 left in the first quarter.
• The Polar Bears led 28-5 at the end of the first quarter.
• ONU led 43-21 going into halftime.
• Gray started the second half with two layups and a jumper to put ONU up 49-22 with 6:31 left in the third.
• Ohio Northern outscored the Quakers 21-11 in the third quarter to lead 64-32 going into the fourth.
• Ohio Northern made 29-of-61 field goals for 47.5 percent and was 7-of-23 from beyond the arc for 30.4 percent, while Wilmington was 9-of-51 from the floor for 17.6 percent and finished 5-of-24 on 3-pointers for 20.8 percent.
• The Polar Bears made 10-of-14 free throws for 71.4 percent and the Quakers were 17-of-19 from the line for 89.5 percent.
• ONU out-rebounded WC 48-23.
