Fifth-year senior Brynn Serbin named OAC Women’s Basketball Player of the Week

ADA — Ohio Northern fifth-year senior All-American Brynn Serbin (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, sponsored by Midstream Lighting, for the week of Jan. 1-7.
This marks Serbin's fourth career OAC Player of the Week accolade, as she also earned the honor three times last season.
The latest recognition comes after Serbin led the Polar Bears to a 67-54 win at Otterbein and a 57-47 win over Muskingum last week while averaging 18.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4 assists and 5.5 steals per game.
She made five 3-pointers and tied her career-high with 25 points to go with four rebounds, three assists and seven steals against Otterbein and added 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and four steals against Muskingum.
As she continues to stuff the stat sheet, Serbin has become the first women's basketball player in ONU history to record a career with at least 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals.
In 107 career games at ONU, including 64 starts, Serbin has become the program's all-time leader in steals (255) and assists (335). She ranks 13th on ONU's all-time career scoring list with 1,075 points and is fourth all-time in made 3-pointers (155), 13th all-time in made free throws (190), 15th all-time in rebounds (507) and 18th all-time in made field goals (365).
Named an All-American by D3hoops.com and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association in addition to earning OAC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year honors last season, Serbin entered the 2023-24 campaign as a D3hoops.com Preseason First Team All-American.
She enters the week leading the team in points per game (13.5), rebounds per game (6.3), assists (40), steals (32) and made 3-pointers (23) and free throws (23). She ranks third in the OAC in assists, fourth in steals, fifth in scoring, seventh in made 3-pointers and 12th in rebounding.
The Polar Bears (8-4 overall, 6-0 OAC) return to action on Wednesday for a key conference showdown at Baldwin Wallace (10-3 overall, 6-0 OAC) at 7 p.m.
