Akamine, Allen named Academic All-District in Women's Basketball by College Sports Communicators

ADA — Sophomores Abi Akamine (Lahaina, Hawaii/Lahainaluna) and Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) were named Academic All-District in women's basketball by the College Sports Communicators.
To be eligible for Academic All-District honors, each student-athlete must have at least a 3.5 GPA and must have played in 50 percent of his or her team's games in a season.
Akamine started all 25 games at shooting guard this season, averaging 4.2 points per game.
She was third on the team with 30 assists and was fourth with 18 steals.
Allen started 24 of 25 games and is a two-year regular at center this season.
She was third on the team in scoring at 11.0 ppg and was third in rebounding at 4.9 rpg.
The No. 18-ranked Polar Bears have a 21-4 record and won the OAC Regular Season title with a 15-3 mark under third-year head coach Mark Huelsman.
Northern is the top seed in this week's OAC Tournament and will host a semifinal contest at 7 pm on Thursday at the ONU Sports Center.
