Quick start leads Women's Basketball to 68-41 victory over Delaware Valley (Pa.)

HUNTINGDON, Pa. — Ohio Northern raced to a 32-13 halftime lead and cruised to a 68-41 women's basketball victory over Delaware Valley (Pa.) on Friday afternoon at the Juniata Classic at Memorial Gymnasium.
The Polar Bears (2-0 overall) got 45 points from its bench, led by sophomore Kristen Luersman (Fort Jennings) and freshman Brooke Allen (Woodville/Woodmore) with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The Aggies (1-3) got 11 points from Lauren Moretti and 10 points from Haley Stankiewicz.
Northern used an 18-1 run to grab a 21-5 lead with 8:32 left in the first half.
A Luersman 3-pointer extended the advantage to 45-17 with 3:04 left in the third quarter and the lead would fall no closer than 20 points the rest of the way.
Ohio Northern made 26-of-69 field goals for 37.7 percent and were 7-of-24 from 3-point range for 29.2 percent, while the Aggies made 14-of-46 field goals for 30.4 percent and were 2-of-15 from beyond the arc for 13.3 percent.
ONU out-rebounded DVU 52-32 and forced 26 turnovers in the contest.
The Polar Bears will wrap up play in the Juniata Classoc on Saturday at 3 pm against Lycoming (Pa.)
