KISSIMMEE, Fla. — The Ohio Northern softball team continued its spring break trip with a win over St. Scholastica (Minn.) and a loss to Loras (Iowa) and on Tuesday afternoon.
The Polar Bears opened the day with a 4-1 loss to Loras (Iowa) and wrapped the day up with a 3-2 win over St. Scholastica (Minn.)
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (2-2 Overall), Loras (5-2 Overall), St. Scholastica (2-4 Overall).
- Venue: Fortune Road — Kissimmee, Fla.
Loras Game - L, 1-4
- Loras scored a run in each of the bottom of the third and fourth innings to go up 2-0.
- Freshman Alexa Ray (Worthington/Bishop Watterson) singled to left field to score sophomore Clare Flory (Marcellus, Mich.) in the top of the fifth for Northern's lone run.
- The Duhawks scored two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to ectend the lead to 4-1.
- Ray went 3-for-4 with an RBI to lead the Polar Bears.
- Freshman Brooklyn Osterloh (Minster) (1-2) pitched 6.0 innings and recorded one strikeout.
- ONU out-hit LC 9-8.
St. Scholastica Game - W, 3-2
- Ohio Northern scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the third inning.
- senior Ashley Simko (Lebanon) scored ONU's first run on a RNI ground out by Ray.
- Freshman Ellie Mason (New Philadelphia) doubled to left field to score senior Allie Wilson (Wapakoneta) to make the score 2-0.
- The next at bat, freshman Natalie Gonzalez (San Diego, Calif./Bonita Vista) singled to score Mason.
- The Saints scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the the Polar Bears held on for the win thanks to all three outs from Mason at third base.
- Wilson and sophomore Alyssa Hochstetler (Akron/Springfield) each went 2-for-3 to lead Northern.
- Gonzalez (1-1) got the win in the circle for the Polar Bears, pitching 4.1 innings with four strikeouts and only allowing one hit.
- ONU out-hit CSS 10-5.

- The Polar Bears are slated to play 10 games this week in The Spring Games tournament.
- Ohio Northern is now 0-2 all-time against Loras and 2-0 all-time against St. Scholastica.
