BARTOW, Fla. — The Ohio Northern softball team started its 2025 season with a double header split to open their spring break trip. ONU won 6-3 over Rhode Island College and fell 10-1 to Belhaven (Miss.) on Sunday.
The Basics
- Records: Ohio Northern (1-1 overall), Rhode Island College (1-2 overall), Belhaven (Miss.) (9-5 overall).
- Venue: Bartow Park #7 - Bartow, Fla.
Game 1 - W, 6-3 v RIC
- Ohio Northern scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning and two more in the seventh to rally from an early 2-0 deficit.
- The Anchorwomen scored twice in the bottom of the second inning to take a 2-0 lead.
- Junior Allie Wilson (Wapakoneta) had a 2-run double and later scored on a single by sophomore Carlie Schroeder (Wapakoneta) to make it 4-2 in the fifth.
- A squeeze bunt by senior Ashley Lenser (Brookville) in the top of the seventh made it 5-2 and an RBI single by senior Callie Rosser (Republic/Monroeville) capped the scoring at 6-3.
- Lenser struck out five in the complete-game victory to improve to 1-0 on the season.
- ONU out-hit RIC 7-5.
Game 2 - L, 1-10 (5 innings) v BC
- The game was called after five innings due to the NCAA's 8-run rule.
- The Blazers led 10-0 after three innings.
- In the bottom of the third inning, Wilson singled to center field to score junior Kylie King (London/Jonathan Alder), who was walked and stole second base.
- Wilson went 2-for-3 to lead the Polar Bears.
- BU out-hit ONU 12-4.

- The Polar Bears have now won four consecutive season openers.
- Wilson led the team with a 3-for-6 day with 3 RBI.
- Rosser had 2 hits on the day and now has 97 in 96 career games.
