Monday's Preview: The Ohio Northern softball team returns from its eight-game set at The Spring Games in Florida for a doubleheader at Alma (Mich.) on Monday starting at 3 p.m. … Northern posted a 4-4 record on its spring break trip … In those eight games, senior Hannah Rubel and sophomore Kaylie Griffin led the Polar Bears offensively … Rubel hit .471 (8-of-17) and tallied six RBIs … Griffin hit .429 (9-of-21) and had a team-high three doubles to go with her first career home run and five RBIs … Freshman Ashley Lenser also hit her first career home run as part of her six hits on the trip to go with four RBIs … Senior Stacey Walters shined in the pitching circle for ONU, posting a 2-1 record, 1.17 ERA and 20 strikeouts in three starts, including two complete games, spanning 18 innings … Lenser and sophomore MarQue Harris also earned wins in the circle for the Polar Bears … Rubel enters the week ranked seventh in the Ohio Athletic Conference in batting average (.471) … Griffin is tied for sixth in the OAC in runs (8) … Walters leads the OAC in ERA (1.17) and ranks eighth in strikeouts (20) … Walters ranks 11th all-time at ONU with 141 career strikeouts and is just six strikeouts away from tying Michelle Stillings ('86-'89) for 10th place on the all-time list … Seniors Rachel Hish and Abby Elliott are eight and 11 hits away, respectively, from 100 in their careers … Alma (Mich.) enters Monday's doubleheader coming off sweeping Sunday's doubleheader at Heidelberg by scores of 7-1 and 8-0 … Haley Ullrich leads the Scots in batting average (.551), hits (27), home runs (7) and RBIs (24) … Ullrich is also the team's top pitcher, as she enters Monday with a 6-3 record over nine starts to go with a 2.33 ERA and 65 strikeouts over 54 innings.
